#Brazil2014! Why FIFA Banned Nigerian Supporters Club From Match Venues

Nigerian-Supporters-Club
Reports emanating from Brazil, venue of the ongoing 2014 World Cup indicate that football governing body, FIFA has

banned Nigerian Supporters Club, as well as other nations’ supporters club, from using their drums, trumpets and other instruments at the Mundial. According to the President General of the Nigerian Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, the club had their instruments confiscated when they arrived Curitiba, venue of Nigeria versus Iran match on Monday, 16 June, 2014. Mr. Ladipo informed that over three hundred Nigerian supporters had stormed the venue of the match with their regalias and costumes much to the delight of Brazillian fans before they were stopped by FIFA officials from entering the Stadium. It was gathered that the FIFA officials who seized the instrument told the Nigerian supporters that they were confiscated on the ground that they constitute ‘nuisance’. The Nigerian Supporters club claimed they were not informed of FIFA’s confiscation policy and Ladipo threatened to write FIFA for the conduct. “We have been going to other countries and we have played our instruments during international tournaments. We did not get any notice prior to this ban. “We came here to support our darling team with our musical instruments, we don’t make troubles because we are disciplined people. “We are here to make the arena glamorous. FIFA did not write us officially and we see it as victimisation. I will write to FIFA for explanation,” Ladipo said. While trying to justify the measure as an official demonstration on FIFA’s ban, one of the Security personnel who seized the instruments said: “the directive is from FIFA and we will not allow any playing of instruments.” The Nigerian supporters club was noticeably missing when Nigeria’s Super Eagles drew Iran 0-0 on Monday as their symbolic face paintings and regalias did not appear on television screen through out the match. It could recalled that the last edition of the World Cup in South Africa sparked uproars and calls for ban of noisy instrument from FIFA competitions. A recommendation many believe FIFA has accepted, thus banning all noisy instruments from the 2014 World Cup.Read more at: http://sugarsport.me/2014/06/18/brazil-2014why-fifa-banned-nigerian-supporters-club-from-match-venues/ | Super Eagles World Cup News, Nigeria Football Sports News | SugarSport Nigera
